Miss Tourism 2017 promotes tourism sites at Afadzato District

The 2017 face of Tourism, Volta, Gloria Afetor, in collaboration with the Assemblyman for the Logba Klipo Electoral Area of the Afadzato South Assembly, have instituted January 2 as a day of highlight of tourist sites in the district.


The initial celebration took place here. The  beauty queen and her two runners- up accompanied the Assemblyman, Mr. Mike Foster Odzafi, led holiday makers to explore some tourists sites at Logba Tota.


The sites visited included the Abayeme Cliff, Akpom waterfalls and the Odzemkpo.

The tour was organised by the Discover Volta Organisation, which has the aim to bring the vast tourist potentials of the region to the fore for development, income generation and job opportunities.


According to the CEO of the organisation, Mr. Macktosh Jaisey, the region was sitting on gold which is yet to be discovered.


He said that from  their  tours, they had  discovered as many as 26 waterfalls which can be developed to bring in income.


As such the celebration would be an annual affair to whip up interest in the sites for the necessary investments to be drawn into their development.

Speaking at a durbar to launch the celebration, Mr. Wisdom Semanu Seneadza, the District Chief Executive of the Afadzato South District underscored  the vast potential of the district.


He congratulated the Ms. Afetor for deciding to take the development of tourist sites in the district  as her project.


He noted that the celebration will go a long way to expose the sites in the district to investors to come to partner them to develop them.


The tourism industry, he said, apart from agriculture,  when developed, will be a major job creating  avenue thus helping the  district towards improving their internally generated income.
