Mr-Kwasi-Oppong-FosuThe new Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mr. Akwasi Opong-Fosu, has urged staff of the ministry to observe laid-down structures at the ministry to create good working relationship for better performance.

“Staff productivity would be one of the best when there is sound mind and good working relations amongst colleague workers as well as management,” he said.

Mr. Opong-Fosu gave the advice when he interacted with the staff at a durbar to enable him to acquaint himself with the operations of the ministry.

He explained that because workers spent most of their time at their workplaces with each other, the time had to be used judiciously to contribute their quota to the development of Ghana.

He noted that the ministry played a critical role in the development of the country and in order to ensure accelerated socio-economic development through the formulation of sound policies and regulatory framework of promoting the use of appropriate environmentally friendly, scientific and technological practices, there was the need for everyone to perform his or her duty accordingly.

The minister said normally, politicians demanded quick results in their line of duty and bureaucrats had the expertise in initiating measures to develop the nation. Therefore, the work of the two should be at par in the quest to achieve desired results.

He cautioned the staff against acts that had the tendency to thwart the progress of the ministry.

Mr. Opong-Fosu noted the importance of the Public Service and said governments the world over depended on it, yet some attitudes undermined the integrity of the service.

He, therefore, urged the staff to protect and maintain the image of the service since they were the ambassadors of the public service.

Dr. Sylvester Anemana, Chief Director of the ministry, underscored the importance of the meeting and said it was for better work coordination.
