It said the  Managing Director (MD) of the MMTL, Mr Noble John Appiah, and Deputy MD of the MMTL, Mr John Awuku Dzuazah, have also been asked to step aside for investigations to be conducted into operations of the company.

“The President, John Dramani Mahama, has asked Brigadier-General I. B. Quartey (rtd.) to take over the management of the company, pending the conclusion of the investigations,” the statement indicated.

It is recalled that staff of the MMTL on Monday, January12, embarked on a nationwide strike to demand action on the report of 12 alleged missing buses belonging to the MMTL.

The workers, however, resumed work a few hours later, following the intervention by the Transport Minister, Mrs. Dzifa Attivor, who appealed to the workers to return to work.

Similarly, on Wednesday, staff of MMTL stormed the office of Mr Duazah, attempting to force him out of his office, but he locked himself in the office until the police arrived to whisk him away.

The workers demanded his immediate interdiction by the board to pave way for ongoing investigations into the alleged disappearance of the 12 buses.
