Medical Stores fire not over

The fire situation at the Tema Central Medical Stores of the Ghana Health Service, which seemed to have been brought under control earlier yesterday, suddenly worsened at about 5:30 p.m.

That happened hours after the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), had brought in an excavator to stir up the debris.

Many quantities of condoms were stuck in the excavator, and the fire was believed to have been intensified by the combustible nature of the product.

At the time of going to press, the GNFS personnel who were still at post tried fighting the fire, while another group was seen dressing up, ostensibly to relieve them of the duty.

Some by-standers expressed worry, as the situation was beginning to look “hopeless” and travelling into a third day.
