MDE Calls For Concerted Efforts On Education

Mr. Godfred Axolu, Nkoranza Municipal Director of Education, has called for more collaboration among stakeholders in education towards achieving quality education in the area.

According to him, the provision of quality education for the youth depended on the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders.

He said there was the need for parents and teachers to collaborate to promote discipline to enhance teaching and learning.

Mr. Axolu was addressing staff and Interim Management Committee (IMC) members of the Donkro-Nkwanta Senior High School (SHS), a private second-cycle school in the Nkoranza municipality.

He commended the chief of the town, Nana Owusu Akyaw Brempong II, for organising his people to establish the school to make secondary education accessible and affordable for children in the area.

Mr Axorlu praised the communal spirit of the people and urged them to remain focused and assist the school to grow.

Mr. Michael Wiredu-Kusi , the acting Headmaster, said the school, established a year ago, had a student population of 138, comprising 90 boys and 48 girls.

Mr. Wiredu-Kusi expressed appreciation to the National Service Secretariat for posting 10 service personnel to support teaching and learning in the school.

He urged the Ghana Education Service to absorb the school into the public system to complement the efforts of the community.

On the future of the school, he said the the traditional authority had allocated an 80-acre land to be used as a permanent.
