According to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of La Dadekotopon, Rita Odoley Sowah, “Without peace it will be difficult for our existence to improve since unity and togetherness is a basic ingredient that facilitates development.”
Madam Sowah made the call after the annual Homowo football match, played between the people of La and Osu over the weekend.
The football match was part of efforts by the Assembly and traditional leaders of La and Osu to unite the youth. The match ended goalless.
Speaking in an interview with The Ghanaian Times after the match, the La Dadekotopon MCE said Homowo was a time for reflection that brings people together to promote unity and development.
She said since last year when the La Dadekotopon Assembly took over the annual football gala, it had mobilised more residents to part-take in the event.
The MCE indicated that plans were far advanced to renovated sports facilities in the municipality.
“The future of most of the youth of La depends on football hence the need to add value to sports facilities in the La township to aid the youth meet their aspirations in life,” she said.
The chairman for the occasion, Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III, the La Mantse commended participating teams.
He said the future of the country was in the hands of the youth and stressed the need for them to live lives worthy of emulation by others.
“Decent lifestyles should be a household name that should be commonly seen among the youth of La,” Nii Kpobi said.
Nii Tsuru said that though there were a few sports facilities in the area, that should deter the youth from engaging in sports.
