The 40th anniversary celebration of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA), Mataheko, has been marked with a call on members of the church to watch and pray without ceasing.

Held on theme, “  Proclaiming the Lord’s goodness” the ceremony was attended by high-ranking members of the church, including the president, Accra city of SDA, Pastor S.O.T Hammond, Pastor Dr T.T Ocran, president of the Southern Ghana Union Conference (GUC), and Rt Pr. Dr S.A Larmie, former president, GUC.

In an interview with the Ghanaian Times, Most Reverend Pastor Mark Hado, the resident pastor of Mataheko SDA Church, said 40 years was significant in the theological and spiritual development of the church.

Citing an instance from the Bible, he said, Moses spent 40 days in the wilderness, and after 40 years it is imminent for others to know the wonderful work of God.

Rev Hado said that the celebration would open a new page for the church.

“God brought the Israelites to the promised land after they had wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, the time for the church to take its promise, time for marriages in the church to work well and also time for people’s businesses to prosper,” he said.

Rev Hado said with a previous number of 34, the church has over the 40 years won 789 souls to Christ.

He said the church had built a school and purchased.
