Members of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall of Accra East have donated items and monies amounting to GH¢40,000 to the Our Lady of Visitation (OLV) Catholic Church in Accra,

The gesture is in support of the church to get a permanent place of worship to take care of the welfare of members.

The presentation forms part of activities to mark Founders Day celebration of the Catholic society.

Led by the Regional Grand Knight, Worthy Brother Augustine Appiah and Regional Noble Lady, Respected Lady, Sister Winifred Yennah, the delegation presented cheques, individual pledges, building materials and a promise to sew about 40 choir robes for members.

The Chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council, Mr. Nicholas Logosu who received the donation of the Noble Order expressed gratitude for the show of love and kindness to the OLV Catholic Church.

Touching on the challenges, the Chairman described the church as a mobile one which worshipped under tents at the Ghana Civil Aviation Station grounds at La Wireless, a suburb of Accra as “we do not have a structure we can refer to as our church building”.

Mr. Logosu assured the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall that funds and items donated will be put into good use to help the church grow.

In a sermon, the priest in-charge, Very Rev. Fr. John Newman Tetteyfio, gave emphasis on the practice of Christian virtues such as love, care for one another and charity works among others, as doing the will of God.

He called on Marshallans to hold true to such tenets to bring honour to God and their founding fathers.

On his part, the Regional Grand Knight, Worthy Brother Augustine Appiah reminded the gathering of God’s call on everyone to each day live holy by emulating the life of Christ.

“Just as we have received freely from God, so should we, as Marshallans also give out to the poor and needy. It is through such acts of charity that we glorify our God and he in return supplies our needs,” he admonished.

Other personalities present at the function were the Immediate Past Regional Grand Knight, Worthy Brother Charles Noriyie, the Immediate Past Regional Noble Lady, Respected Lady Sister Charity Dazousa, Ga State Akwashong Mantse, Nii Kwatei Kodjo II and a host of past Supreme Knights and Grand Ladies.
