A 45-year-old man, Abane Seidu, was on Tuesday night shot and killed by some unidentified gunmen at Kpalugu, near Bawku, in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Thomas Yaw Agbanyo, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), told The Ghanaian Times at Bolgatanga that after the attack, Seidu was left in a pool of blood near the Bawku-Zebilla road throughout the night.
Mr. Agbanyo said when the body was examined on Wednesday morning, gunshot wounds were found on the left thigh and the chest.
He said, 11 empty shells of AK-47 assault rifles where found at the scene of the crime by the police.
The PRO said the body of Seidu was deposited at the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital morgue, and a post-mortem examination performed by Dr. K. Okaine, attributed the cause of death to “hypovolemic shock, secondary to gun shock”.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was released to the family for burial, in accordance with the Muslim custom, while the police have intensified their search for the culprits.
