Man remanded for causinf harm to wife

An Accra Circuit Court on Friday remanded into police custody a car sprayer for causing harm to his wife, after quarrelling over the washing of their children’s clothings.

Peter Laryea, accused, allegedly pushed his wife, Rebecca Shamo, and she fell resulting in a fracture in the arm.

Laryea who was charged for causing harm, pleaded guilty and prayed the court for leniency.

The court presided by Mrs. Abena Oppong  Adjin-Doku, convicted him but deferred sentence to June 25, and ordered Shamo to produce her medical bills to court.

Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the married couple lives in the same room at Teshie, but were not in talking terms.

Prosecution said Laryea gave their daughter’s dresses his girlfriend to wash, which infuriated the complainant.

The Prosecution said complainant said on May 23, this year called Laryea’s girlfriend on phone warned her not to receive any of her children’s dresses and wash them again.

Chief Insp Atimbire said this resulted in an argument and the husband assaulted the wife, and she sustained injuries.

She reported the case to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit at Nungua, and medical report form was issued to the complainant. – GNA
