Man rapes UEW student

The Tanoso police in the Ashanti Region have arrested 20-year-old Emmanuel Opoku, 20, who lured a student of University of Education Winneba, Kumasi campus, into a friend’s house and raped her.

The suspect had convinced the victim, a first-year student of the university, that he was also a student of the institution, studying the same course with her, and they became friends.

The Tanoso Police Commander, Adams Berko, explained to Kasapa News that the suspect having established  a good relationship with the lady, invited her to his house to cook for him, claiming he was sick.

The victim, sensing no ill-motive proceeded to the suspect’s house, but  upon arrival  Opoku, lured her to another house, which belonged to his friend, located in another suburb.

Opoku had earlier called his male friend to inform him that he was coming on a visit to introduce his wife to him, so upon arrival, the friend who was seeing another friend off, told the pair to relax and wait for him.

The suspect took advantage of his friend’s absence, assaulted and raped her repeatedly.

Moments later, the suspect’s friend returned home to find  the victim half naked, seated on the bed crying.
The victim narrated her ordeal to the suspect’s friend who in turn questioned the suspect. This led to a fight between them, but the friend however made a complaint against the suspect at the police station.

Opoku has been charged with assault, rape, resisting arrest and impersonation.
