A 24-year-old computer technician, Seidu Sulemana, who allegedly raped his cousin’s wife, has appeared before the Ashaiman District Magistrate’s Court.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Theresa Adjei, told the court that on October 8, the complainant, Dzokoto 21, and her husband, Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman had a misunderstanding over her failure to answer his calls and, subsequently, left the house without informing her of where he was going.
The court heard that the complainant reported her husband’s action to Sulemana, who lived in the same house with the couple and he (Sulemana) advised her to leave the door unlocked, because the husband might return.
Chief Insp. Adjei said Angel went back home and did not lock the door, as advised by Sulemana, who sneaked into the room at about 2 a.m. and started caressing her.
The complainant thought it was her husband because the room was dark and sought permission to urinate; and switched on the light, only to realise that it was not her husband but Sulemana.
Chief Insp. Adjei said, the accused covered her mouth and dragged her back onto the bed, tore her night gown and had sex with her.
Sulemana, after the act, warned the complainant not to tell her husband, else, he would divorce her.
The prosecutor said Angel informed the husband about the case and Suleman was arrested by the Police.
He is to re-appear on November 3, as he complained of chest pains during the trial to enable him seek medical attention.
