A 46-year- woman has been beaten to death by her lover at Dansoman in Accra.
Beatrice Osah, trader, (deceased) was said to have been beaten with a stool by Kwabena Hene, 38, the suspect.
Confirming the incident, the Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Efia Tenge told The Ghanaian Times that, Hene and Beatrice had been cohabitating for 10 years and they have two children, aged between three and six.
ASP Tenge said Hene has been beating his partner but she refused to report him to the police because she was scared that the police would arrest him.
She said, on July 19 , Beatrice asked her niece to switch off the fan which Hene had switched on and he got furious and started assaulting the niece but Beatrice asked Hene to stop it.
She said Hene then attacked Beatrice with a chair until she became very weak but Beatrice went to the market the following day.
ASP Tenge said, Beatrice returned home, complained about headache and later in the evening she was rushed to the Dansoman Polyclinic by Hene.
She said Beatrice was referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
ASP Tenge said the body has been deposited at the morgue awaiting autopsy.
She said Hene would be given a charge based on the outcome of the autopsy report.
