Man kills father at Okpoi Gonno

A man believed to be mentally deranged has been arrested by the police for allegedly stabbing his father to death at Okpoi Gonno, a suburb of Accra last Sunday.

The suspect, yet to be identified was reported to have run amok and stabbed his father, Raymond Agbeko, with a knife on his right side of his chest, under a bridge at Okpoi Gonno.

The Ghanaian Times gathered that the deceased was reported to have gone to see his son under the bridge where he had adopted as his home.

The Accra Regional Police Crime Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Edward Faakyi-Kumi, told the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday that, the suspect is in the custody of the Police assisting in investigations.

He said at around 5:30pm on September 3, the police received a report of the incident addint that the residents had  rushed the victim to the Lekma Hospital at Teshie in Accra, but was pronounced dead.

The Crime Officer said police proceeded to the hospital where they found the body of the deceased,and investigations revealed that the deceased was attacked and stabbed.

“A careful examination on the body revealed a deep knife wound on his right side of chest,” he said.

He said the body would be transferred to the Police Hospital for investigations.

The Crime Officer said the suspect was later arrested with the help of resident adding that he would be sent to for examination at the Psychiatric Hospital.
