Man impregnates daughter

c660921a5735c4706cc22cd475a7087fThe Obuasi Police have arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly impregnating his 21-year-old daughter.

The act was reported to the Obuasi Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) by the victim, after she was beaten by her father, Efo Red.

The suspect, according to the Police, had been repeatedly having sex with her daughter, and was responsible for her three pregnancies, two of which the victim was forced to abort.

The DOVVSU Commander, Togbui Adakpui, who confirmed the arrest to The Ghanaian Times, said the suspect would soon be arraigned before court.

“The victim refused to abort a third pregnancy, which she is carrying now and that is why he beat her,” neighbour of the suspect said.

The victim’s mother, who lives in Bolgatanga, in the Upper East region, brought her to live with her father, who had abandoned them for years.

The mother located Efo Red at Kwapia, near Obuasi, where he was then living with his new wife. Soon after the arrival of the victim, however, he divorced his wife.

According to the victim, she asked her mother to lodge a complaint after her father had assaulted her.
