Man held for terrorising Legon students

The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a suspected hardened criminal known to be terrorising students of the University of Ghana (UG), Legon, Accra.

Attah Kofi Kyei, 18, alias ‘freshboy,’ is said to have committed such atrocities as rape, assault and snatching of bags of students on campus.

Briefing The Ghanaian Times, the Deputy Accra Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Timothy Y. Bonga, disclosed that on January 6, Kyei attacked a lady on the Pentagon stretch of the Legon road, snatched her bag and personal belongings and GH¢2,000 cash, and bolted into a bush.

The victim reported the incident to the Police Visibility personnel, and they rushed to the place.

Kyei, on seeing the police, attempted to jump onto his bike but they chased him, and causing him to abandon it.

The police team took the bike to the station and after three days, a gentleman came to claim ownership of it.

The man was arrested and upon interrogation, led the police to Kyei’s hideout, where he was arrested.

Kyei in turn took the police to the bush where he had hidden the bag belonging to the victim.
