The police at Sankore in the Asunafo South District of the Brong Ahafo Region, have arrested a 23-year-old man, Amos Asare (alias Anointing) following violent clashes between supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party.
According to the police, a fight broke out between supporters of the two parties when the NPP supporters allegedly taunted the NDC supporters on a motorbike.
In the ensuing brawl, three NDC supporters identified as Yaw Owusu, 21, Mutala Mohammed, 32, and Abubakari Sadique, 30, sustained deep cuts and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The Brong Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Sampson Gbande, said on Monday, a group of NPP supporters again hauled insults at the NDC supporters, resulting in a fight.
He said one of the NDC supporters on motorbike rushed to the police station and reported the matter, but the police could not arrest anybody as those engaged in the act fled into the bush when they got wind that the police were coming after them.
Sgt Gbande said, luck eluded Amos, and he was arrested later on Monday to assist the police in investigations.
