Man grabbed for stabbing ‘bouncer’

A man, who allegedly stabbed a bouncer, private security man, at a betting centre at Abeka Lapaz in Accra, during a confrontation, has been arrested by the police.

Ibrahim Razak, 34, and 30 other accomplices, who were on the run, and being sought by the police, allegedly attacked Micheal Bonar, 28, with knives and other deadly weapons during the row.

Bonar, who sustained knife wounds on the back and ribs, was rushed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and was treated and discharged.

The suspect is in the custody of the police assisting in investigations, theTesano District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police (Supt) Edward Tetteh, told the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday.

He said on April 24, at about 4:45p.m, the suspect went to the Circle branch of the My to transact business.

Supt Tetteh said whiles at the centre, Razak and a customer had a confrontation, and Bonar attempted to separate them, and later asked the suspect to leave the premises.

Supt Tetteh said the following day, Razak mobilised about 30 youth armed with knives and other weapons and attacked Bonar at the Lapaz branch of My Bet, for sacking him from the centre.

The Police Commander said the victim, who sustained knife wounds was rushed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

He said Razak absconded to Kumasi, in the Ashanti region, but was arrested by the Anti-armed robbery squad and handed over to the Tesano police.

Supt Tetteh said the suspect would soon be arraigned for provisional charges of possession of offensive weapon and attempted murder.
