Man grabbed driving snatched car

Sulley Haruna, 29, has been arrested by the police at Somanya, in the Eastern Region, when driving a Toyota Corolla he snatched from the owner.

The car, at the time of the arrest, had been painted with taxi colours, and had its original licensed number.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Joseph Gyawu, Adentan Police Divisional Police Commander, confirmed the story to the Ghana News Agency.

He said on the 22nd April, the owner of the car, Michael Adomako, reported to the Agbogba Police that his car has been snatched from him.

He said the suspect and the complainant were carrying out test-drive and in the process, he asked the car owner to also test-drive the vehicle.

ACP Gyawu said as soon as the complainant alighted from the car, the suspect sped off, while the owner held onto the door of the car.

Prosecution said after the car owner realised that his efforts were futile, he ‘let off his hold’ and watched his vehicle being driven away.

ACP Gyawu said the suspect was arrested on 17th July, 2017, driving the snatched car, and after investigations, was brought before court. – GNA
