Man dies after voting at Kintampo North

A 42- year -old man collapsed and died after casting ballot at the Kintampo North constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region yesterday.

The deceased, Abdullai Amidu, was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

He was reported to have been discharged from hospital on the eve of the general elections, after battling some illness, and  insisted he should be taken to the polling station to cast his ballot, only to die shortly afterwards.

According to the presiding officer at the polling station, Sosito Isaac, the man was brought to the polling station on a motorbike and was showing sign of ill-health while in the queue.

He said realising his situation he gave Amidu the go ahead to vote, but he was still finding it difficult to do so.

Mr, Sosito said, he then assisted him to cast his ballot, and afterwards collapsed, and was rushed to the kintampo hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Aside Amidu’s death, the presiding officer noted that the whole voting exercise has been peaceful and orderly.
