The Ho Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Mr G.C.K. Blewushie, who confirmed the story, said that the body of the deceased, Philemon Agbinku, 49, had been deposited at the Ho Municipal Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
According to him, the suspect and the deceased, who were from the same parents, shared a room and often quarrelled bitterly with each other over various issues at home.
Mr Blewushie said that the suspect was arrested after a family member informed the police that at dawn, Philemon was found dead in his bed, with blood oozing from his forehead and the back of his head.
The family members, according to Mr Blewushie, said that the household suspected George, who was sleeping in the same room with the deceased, of killing his brother.
“We will do our best to establish the facts before taking the next step,” said the Municipal Police Commander.
Mr Blewushie explained that the case was a very serious one, which occurred during the Easter holidays, and for that matter the suspect could not be admitted to bail immediately.
Meanwhile, a source close to the Agbinku family, told The Ghanaian Times that the suspect, between seven and 10 years ago slashed the deceased with a cutlass and also laced the soup of the deceased with a poisonous substance on another occasion during the same period.
According to the source, the suspect was also heard once, telling the deceased that he (suspect) would kill him one day.
