The police have mounted a search for the arrest of a 71-year-old man for allegedly defrauding a businessman of an amount of GH¢24,600.
Ernest Adu Baffour was said to have collected the amount last July, under the pretext of securing the victim an accommodation at East Legon in Accra.
Briefing The Ghanaian Times, the Odorkor Police Crime Officer, Deputy Superintendent Emmanuel Osei Agboga, said the victim called a mobile number displayed on the house for rent and subsequently, met with the housing agent who led him to Baffour at Atico, in Accra.
Baffour introduced himself as the landlord and asked that the money be paid to him.
DSP Agboga said the victim paid the said amount to Baffour who told him there were some works to be done on the house, in order for him to move in.
“According to the victim, Baffour took him to the house to inspect it and promised to hand over the keys to him after three days since there were some things to be done,” he said, but since then, all means to contact him had proved futile.
