Man, 39, jailed for incest

Anthony Tamakloe, a 39- year old clearing agent at Elubo in the Jomoro District of the Western Region, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by a Takoradi Circuit Court, for incest.

He was charged for having sexual intercourse with his teenage daughter.

The convict, confessed to the court presided over by Mrs. Rita Doku, that he inserted his fingers into his daughter’s private part but, pleaded not guilty to incest.

Presenting the facts, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Eudoxie Addo, stated that, the victims is a third year Junior High School pupil and the biological daughter of the accused.

The accused, she told the court, had three children who were in the custody of their mother and living in Aflao, in the Volta Region, because they were no longer married.

The prosecution said, in January 2013, the convict took custody of the victim who was 14 years old and her immediate brother and brought them to Elubo to stay with him.

ASP Addo said on arrival, Tamakloe questioned  the victim  whether she  had ever  had  sex  with a man, but the victim answered in the negative  and as  her father was not satisfied with the answer, he asked her to remove her clothes and lie on his bed.

The victim, according to the prosecution, obliged and the convict assuming the role of a physician, inserted his fingers into the vagina of his daughter to examine, if indeed, her virginity had not been broken.

The prosecutor said in the process, Tamakloe, who could not withstand the nakedness of his daughter inserted his penis into her vagina and had sex with her, she recalled.

ASP Addo added that, after the act, the victim bled profusely from her vagina and Tamakloe threatened her not to reveal the act to anyone.

“The convict, who is already serving a jail term for torture, enjoyed having sex with the victim to the extent that he could not afford to halt his evil act, but rather made the victim, a permanent sexual partner, and also subjected her to torture whenever she resisted his demand for sex.” ASP Addo said.

The prosecutor said, the victim disclosed the incident to her mother during a visit to her but the convict vehemently denied it and resisted suggestions that the victim be sent back to Aflao.

Even that did not stop him from sleeping with the victim after the mother left, the court heard.

According to ASP Addo, the convict also adopted the practice of administering a sedative hypnotic drug to the victim and her brother which made them sleep excessively, to enable him execute his act without interference.

The prosecution mentioned that, on the night of January 3, 2016, the convict again had sexual intercourse with the victim, resulting in the victim experiencing abdominal pain, and thereafter, revealed her ordeal to a Police Officer, who is also a church member who informed the pastor.

Continuing, ASP Addo stated that, the next day, the convict had the information that his daughter had been invited by the pastor and suspecting that she might reveal his conduct; tortured her as she knelt down with both hands raised and placed a computer system unit in her palm.

The prosecutor said he further beat her mercilessly with an electrical cable leaving various marks of assault on the victim’s body.

ASP Addo said that the matter was reported to the police and Tamakloe was arrested and later handed over to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit at Half Assini, for investigations.
