Giant Steps Capital, a micro finance company in Accra has donated text and exercise books, laptops and other educational materials worth GH¢5000 to the Mamprobi Sempe 1 Kindergarten /Primary School to support its library project.
About 170 pupils would benefit from the aid presented to the school at its speech and prize-giving day held on Tuesday, on the theme, “The education of the child and the responsibility of parents.”
The Chief Executive Officer of Giant Steps Capital, Mr. Francis Bus-Moses, said the gesture was part of his company’s social responsibility to the communities in which it operated.
He urged parents to take keen interest in the education of their children to become useful to society in future.
“The role of the parent cannot be substituted and cannot be played by any other person,” he stated, and charged parents to show interest and provide conducive environment for the development of children.
Mrs. Beatrice T. Odame, headmistress of the school, thanked the company for the assistance, and called on other corporate bodies to emulate gesture.
She said the items donated would be used for the development of the pupils, adding that “our vision is to be recognised as the centre of excellence to attract all children of school going age in the community.”
