‘Make Classroom Pupil-Friendly’

The District Director of Education for Afigya-Kwabre, Mr. Ignatius Mwinbe-Ere Der, has urged teachers to continue to work hard and make the classroom environment lively and pupil-friendly.

He was speaking at a day’s in-service training for 89 selected teachers in 30 public and private primary schools in the district at Kodie on “Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) and phonics”.

EGRA is meant to equip teachers with the relevant teaching skills to improve on the teaching and learning of English Language.

Mr. Mwinbe-Ere Der encouraged teachers to constantly upgrade themselves to become more effective in the classroom.

He counselled them against unprofessional conduct which could bring the teaching profession into disrepute.

They should carry themselves with dignity to serve as role models not only to the children but also other people in the communities where they teach, he added.

Mr. George Oppong, a Circuit Supervisor, said over 450 teachers in the district would benefit from the training.
