The first edition of the Diva’s Walk, a health and fitness walk came off at the University of Ghana basketball court on Saturday with hundreds of participants, predominantly ladies, in attendance.
Organised by Liteblue Events in collaboration with Icons Health Systems and Dreamz Fitness, participants, after an engaging 5km walk around the campus, were taken through an aerobics session, health screening and other exciting physical activities.
Some participants also received prizes including watches, bags, lighters and other attractive souvenirs for their outstanding performances.
According to the organisers, the next event would be bigger and would be held on the second week of next month to avoid a clash with the national sanitation day exercise.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Liteblue Events, Inusah Mohammed, aka Wadada, has said the event would be held monthly and would get more schools involved as they seek to raise a younger generation that believes in the need to exercise to stay healthy.
One of the aims of the event, he said, is to create a platform for the students to meet and interact with the movers and shakers of the corporate sector which is touted as the engine of growth.
“By bringing the two groups of people together, the students get the opportunity to meet these corporate idols, share their experiences with them so that some of the concerns of the students about life after school would be addressed,” Inusah said.
He urged schools that have not been contacted to participate in the event to make the effort to reach the organisers to afford their students the lifetime opportunity to brainstorm with employers at the private sector.
Mr. Edem Kojo of Dreamz Fitness who took participants through the aerobics urged Ghanaians to patronise such events to keep them healthy.
