Mad Rush At Election Centres

There was a mad rush by some eligible voters in the Sunyani Municipality as they thronged various registration centres on the last day of exercise to register their name.

The limited voters’ registration exercise which began on August 4 and ended yesterday was aimed at registering first time voters and those who obtained the voting age of 18 years.

There were queues at the Twene Amanfo SHS, Victoria Park Area One and Methodist Primary ‘A’ centres at New Town when visited the Ghana News Agency (GNA) got there.

The registration officers explained that the exercise was without hitches but were worried about the rush on the last day.

Mr Awudu Dauda, Registration Officer at Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) centre, said about 278 voters registered during the period.

He said out of the figure 223 were men and 55 women and the exercise went on without any hitch except that the turn-out had been generally low.
