Despite numerous calls for a local coach to be appointed as Head Coach of the Black Stars, it has emerged that only four of them applied for the job, according to Kumasi-based Boss FM.
Former Black Stars coach Akwasi Appiah, AshGold coach Bashir Hayford, AFCON winner and former Kotoko coach Abdul Karim Razak and former national player Kuuku Dadzie were the only local coaches that applied for the job.
According to the report, the FA received over 80 application majority of which came from foreign coaches.
The Ghana coaching job has been vacant since the departure of Avram Grant after the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
With the number of coaches on the local scene and calls for the FA to appoint a local, it appears quite disappointing to have only four applying for the job.
A close source to the six-man committee mandated to appoint the new coach disclosed that names like Ibrahim Tanko, David Duncan, J.E. Sarpong, Marcel Desailly and Otto Addo were all missing from the list of applicants despite earlier reports that they were interested in the job.
The committee is expected to announce the shortlist of coaches for interview by Tuesday, March 28.-Ghanasoccernet
