Lebanese commits suicide

A 62-year-old Lebanese shot himself at his residence at Tesano in Accra last Friday.

A suicide note written in Arabic was found at the scene by the Homocide Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department.

Investigations by The Ghanaian Times revealed that Ahmed Chaaban was down with a stroke.

The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Effia Tenge, told The Ghanaian Times that at 4 p.m on October 7, Mohammed Arnaout, a nephew of the deceased reported the tragedy to the police.

She said when the Police proceeded to the area they found the deceased in pool of blood lying on the bed.

ASP Tenge said a gun hole was spotted beneath the chin through the throat to the left side of head.

She said a single-barrel gun and a suicide note were found at the scene.

Meanwhile, Chaaban had since been buried in accordance with Islamic tradition.
