Leaders in the country must sacrifice for the future development and progress of the country, the Omanhen of Essikado, Nana Kobina Nketsia V, has stated.
Ghana, he said, needed selfless leaders to propel growth and confidence in all sphere of the development.
Nana Nketsia said these on Thursday when the new Minister of Transport Kwaku Ofori Asiama called on him at his palace as part of his two-day tour of departments and agencies under his ministry.
Recalling the role chiefs played in local governance and economic development, he said, through the sacrifice and selfless leadership, they gave land freely for the construction of naval bungalow near the Albert Bosomtwi Fishing Harbour and the Takoradi Port, which had served useful purpose to date.
He, therefore, said leaders had a critical role to build the future of the next generation.
Partisan politics, he said, should give way to constructive development, adding, “you should always think about Ghana first.”
Nana Nketsia told the minister that, what was important was for government to make policies that would create jobs for the unemployed youth, especially those in Western Region.
He again appealed to the minister to ensure that the railway was revitalised as promised by the government.
This, he said, would help stem the exodus of the youth, particularly those in the Western Region, to look for jobs elsewhere.
Mr. Asiama thanked Nana Nketsia for the warm reception and the wise counsel, saying that he would always consult him for advice.
