LaNMMA holds 3-day capacity building working for sub district heads

Sub-district structures in the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA), have been urged to adopt strategies that would help speed the development of the area.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Ms. Jennifer Dede Afagbedzi, said the developmental agenda of government for the area could only materialise if sub district structures performed their statutory functions efficiently and effectively.

The MCE said this at a three-day training workshop aimed at building the capacity of the sub district heads on their roles and duties, ended on Saturday at Madina, a suburb of Accra

Held on the theme, ‘Strengthening the capacity of the sub-district structures of La-Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly’, the workshop was attended by assembly members, unit committee members, revenue collectors, environmental health officers and selected heads of departments.

It seeks to provide the participants with an in-depth knowledge on skills needed to administer the sub-district structures.

Topics discussed included concepts of the sub-district structures, preparing of action planning, report writing, revenue mobilisation, environmental sanitation, local economic development and project proposal writing and communication skills.

According to Miss Afagbedzi, the Assembly was committed to organising more of such capacity building programmes to better equip the unit and zonal councils.

She urged the participants to take the training seriously to equip themselves with the required competencies to fully realise the aspirations of the assembly and the area.

The MCE expressed the optimism that the workshop would enhance the performance of the participants to handle some issues which hitherto were difficult for them to do so at the unit/zonal level.
