The Madina Magistrate Court has imposed a GH¢300.00 fine on a landlord at Ocansey, in the La Nkwantanang Madina municipality in Accra, or two months imprisonment for failing to construct a toilet in his house.
Baffour Appau, who was convicted on his own plea, was also ordered by the court to construct an approved toilet on or before May 31.
He was charged on two counts of non -compliance notice and failure to construct toilet in his premises.
Mr. Lambert Kwara of the Municipal Health Department of the assembly told the court that Appau and three others were served notices to construct household toilets in accordance with the assembly’s bye-laws.
He said they failed to comply with the notices and were subsequently charged to appear before the court.
The two others who pleaded not guilty were granted bail in the sum of GH¢300.00 with one surety while a bench warrant has been issued for others who refused to appear before the court.
