The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) on Friday unveiled a cockerel symbol at a colourful ceremony in Accra to remind the citizen’s of the ideas and values of their forefathers and what they stood for.
Unveiling the symbol, the La Mantse, Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru tasked the people of La, especially the youth to be diligent, industrious and law abiding in their day to day activities.
“It is only through hard work and dedication in all your goals that would end you respect and honour from family, friends, neighbours and the community at large,” he said.
He noted that the forefathers of La were very industrious and committed in their farming activities and people within and outside the community admired them, noting that the same could not be said of the youth of today.
He entreated the youth to give out their best in whatever endeavours they found themselves.
In her address, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of LaDMA, Ms. Rita Odoley Sowah, said the symbol should remind the people of La of the great sacrifices and achievements of their forefathers which must be a motivational factor for all to strive to achieve their aspirations.
She said the cockerel should encourage the people that whatever goals they set for themselves could be achieved with determination and perseverance.
She tasked the youth in the area to contribute to the development of the town and country at large by maintaining peace and order at all times.
The MCE asked the people to ensure the safety of the symbol so as to remind them of “who they are and what they can achieve in life”.
