Kwabre SHS Secures Getfund Projects

Government is spending GH¢4million from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) on the construction of infrastructural projects for the Kwabre Senior High School (SHS) at Akuma, in the Nkoranza municipality.

The projects include separate boys and girls dormitories, four staff bungalows, a dining hall with kitchen attached, an administration block, and a two-storey classroom block.

Mr. Samuel Okyere, headmaster of the school, disclosed this at a staff meeting when Mr. Godfred Axolu, Nkoranza South Municipal Director of Edu-cation, paid his maiden visit to the school.

Mr. Okyere said the traditional authorities of the town had allocated about 62 acres of land for the school’s development, stressing that management was currently working to secure the land against encroachment.

He gave a brief history of the school’s establishment, saying it was started as a community day school in 2007 by the people of the area, but was absorbed by government into the public education system in 2012.

The school has a current student population of 350.

Mr. Axolu advised the staff to work in unity, and be dedicated for improved academic performance.
