A Science Laboratory built with the aim of enhancing science education at the Kpeve Senior High Technical School in the South Dayi District of the Volta region, has been commissioned.
The modern laboratory, built with support from a Swiss philanthropist, Togbe Ulrich, is expected to enhance science practicals to enable the students to effectively appreciate the subject.
Commissioning it, Mr. Francis Ganyaglo, Deputy Volta Regional Minister, commended the donor for the assistance, indicating that the facility would add to efforts towards improving secondary education in the region.
He also believed the facility would greatly enhance the status of the school, and therefore urged the authorities to enforce a strong maintenance culture over its use.
Mr. John Elvis Asigbe, headmaster of the school, earlier announced plans by the school to switch to the use of solar energy to reduce the challenges it encounters in terms of electricity supply and consumption.
He said that the school had an enrolment of 296 made up of 51 boarders and 123 day students and staff strength of 46.
He appealed for the construction of staff bungalow on the campus to ensure the strict supervision of the boarders apart from improving teaching and learning conditions in the school.
As part of the commissioning ceremony, the school’s Army Cadet was also inaugurated.
