ASANTE Kotoko made a mince meat of Aduana Stars hammering them 4-0 in the week 30 of the First Capital Plus Premiership played at the Baba Yaya Stadium yesterday which brought down the curtains on the premiership.
That vital win ensured that Kotoko escaped the drop from the top flight.
One would not be wrong to describe the match as very drab, judging from the poor performances of both teams which made fans to read some meanings into the game. The first half was just for the visitors who had most of the possession but more often than not, they were let down by either sloppy passing or by making the wrong decision at the crucial time.
Kotoko burst into the fray in the second half – seemingly poised for goals and opened the floodgates through Jackson Owusu who headed home Sarfo Gyamfi’s volley in the 55th minute. Six minutes on, Jackson Owusu scored a brace from the spot after Emmanuel Asante was mowed down in the box. Obed Owusu added his name to the score sheet and made it 3-0 in the 68th minute. This was after Atta Kusi weaved through a forest of players and mesmerised the keeper but fumbled for the keeper to deny him from scoring on the stroke of full time. As fate would have it, substitute Richard Oti sealed Aduana’s doom with the fourth goal a minute added on time.
