Kotoko protests against Inusah PLB award

Kumasi Asante Kotoko has protested to the Premier League Board (PLB) against the award of Best Defender of the Season trophy to Accra Hearts of Oak’s Inusah Musah.
In the view of the fabulous family, the award should have gone to their defender and skipper, Amos Frimpong who played an inspiring role in their title challenge.
According to the Kumasi based club, Frempong deserved the award, looking at the performance he exhibited in the just ended league.
Speaking in an interview with Kumasi based Metro fm; Head of Communications for Kotoko, Obed Acheampong labeled the award as robbery and accused the organisers of doing a lazy job.
“Amos Frimpong was clearly robbed by the organisers. For him to miss out on the Best Defender award beats the imagination of all and it is the PLB that can only explain. This is a clear case of robbery.”
“We are surprised about the outcome of the awards, we just can’t believe how Amos missed out on the award” he added.
Inusah won the award through an impressive showing for the Phobians that for the first time earned him a national team call but failed to make it into the match day squad.
Musah played 14 games and won nine Man-of-the-Match last season whilst Amos Frimpong played 26 games and scored eight goals.
Meanwhile, most Kotoko players who had limited playing time at the club in the just ended season may be shown the way out as acting Head Coach, Michael Osei submits a tall list of players to be transferred to the new management.
At the maiden meeting of the new management held at the Sports Hotel in Kumasi, Michael Osei submitted the list to the management explaining why those players must be axed.
He also penciled a few others who will be needed at the club to reinforce the title winning ambitions next season.
A statement on the club’s website read: “The coach explained the current strength of the playing body while making forecasts for the 2016/17 season. Michael first focused on players that he believes must be maintained before looking at those that must be put on transfer.”
“He as well presented a list of targeted players and explained why their presence in the team next season would be helpful.”
