Kotoko lock horns with Chelsea …as Hearts aim to bounce back against Inter Allies

Kumasi Asante Kotoko will return to action today at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with a dicey clash against Berekum Chelsea in a top week seven Northern sector Normalisation Committee (NC) special league match.

The Porcupine Warriors were absent in the previous week’s fixture as a result of Wa All Stars’ withdrawal from the competition.

That has handed them some respite which makes them fresher than their Chelsea counterparts are tipped to carry the game to the visitors.

Chelsea on a very good day will be tough customers for the Porcupine Warriors but has lost that fear factor in recent times where they have battled against relegation struggles.

But Kotoko’s avowed aim of snatching the three maximum points to strengthen their grip on the table on their way to an African return makes them clear favourites.

At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kotoko seem to have re-established their ferocious nature, recording some thrilling results in very difficult matches.

Against Chelsea, the Reds will surely be at their very best and fire from all corners, knowing that a failure to emerge victorious could cost their position at the table.

In the Southern sector, Hearts of Oak will aim to bounce back strongly against Inter Allies at the Accra Sports Stadium after the weekend’s defeat to WAFA at Sogakope.

The journey for the Phobians in the special league has been topsy-turvy, losing two of their last three games to Elmina Sharks and more recently WAFA.

That has thrown their title aspirations into doubt as the likes of Karela, Liberty Professionals and WAFA enjoy top positions on the log; leaving a section of fans to question the ability of Coach Kim Grant to restore the club’s pride.

It will take a lot of strategies and maneuverings to undo Allies who are also struggling and are aiming an upset against the Phobians.

Hearts were impressive in the game against WAFA but fell short defensively where they conceded three goals while the attack also failed to score from the myriad of chances created.

Goal scoring has become their waterloo and will remain one area Kim Grant must find a solution for if they want to win handsomely to put Hearts on the path of claiming the top spot.

Aduana Stars and Medeama SC will also sell a classic game at the Dormaa Park where they clash in a Northern sector clash.

Both are contenders for the two slots allotted each group and will fight tooth and nail to better their chances of winning.

Interestingly, their strength have been at their respective home venues, a situation that tilt the scale slightly in Aduana’s favour but Medeama has displayed great tactical disposition throughout the competition and will come as little surprise if they adopt a defensive strategy to frustrate Aduana to earn a vital point.

Bechen United may be playing away but comes as clear favourites against XI Wonders at the Techiman Park while Ashgold take a break this week.

Southern sector leaders, WAFA will trek to the Central region, specifically Cape Coast where they engage Dwarfs in a game expected to be full of thrills.

The home team is finding the game very tough but the mere sight of the leaders provides enough inspiration to cause an upset in the competition.

At Dawu, Dreams FC will welcome Elmina Sharks in a tricky encounter while Karela attempt to return to winning ways when they play Liberty Professionals.
