Kotoko Hold On To Lead

Yayaya 3A brace from Yahaya Mohammed against Amidaus Professionals at the Tema Park ensured Kumasi Asante Kotoko maintained their four-point lead on top of the Ghana Premier League. The striker came back to hunt his former side with his superb performance which helped Kotoko to walk away with the maximum three points.

Yahaya put Kotoko in the lead in the 37th minute and scored his second in the 79th minute to seal the game for the Porcupine Warriors.  Amidaus put up an equally splendid performance on the day but were unable to break the defence of Kotoko. The home side won most of the possesion in the second half and dominated much of the game in midfield but lacked the final touch to put them back in the game.

With this result,Kotoko still remain comfortable at the top and would be hoping to maintain their form in subsequent games. But for Amidaus, they would have to go back to the drawing board to bring back their resilience which made them a force to reckon with in their maiden appearance last season.

At Kpando, Berekum Chelsea’s struggles continued  where they were thrashed 3-0 by home side, Heart of Lions yesterday.

The former champions are now stuck in the relegation scrap as the season nears the halfway stage with two more matches to finish the first round.

Idan Koney started the damage after 15 minutes when he opened the scoring for Lions.

The home side held onto their slim lead and finished the first half 1-0 in front.

Lions recorded two more goals after the break through Sheriff Mohammed and substitute Samuel Yeboah to complete the rout.   From Michael A. Abayateye, Tema
