Kotoko dragged to court by ex-boss

kkEX-Executive Board Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr. Desmond Kofi Kodua Sarpong has, through his lawyers, Agyabeng Akrafi & Co, has summoned Kotoko to the Kumasi High Court.

According to the writ of summons, he is owed an amount of five hundred and thirty-six thousand, two hundred and forty-seven Ghana cedis (GHC 536,247.00).

These are monies he insists were due him when he was the Executive Board Chairman of the club, for the period between 1st January 2011 and 31st July 2013.

According to the writ of summons which was served on the club, the lawyers explained that Dr. Sarpong and the other board members agreed to contribute monies for the general running of the club which the club will refund with a 15% interest.

In addition, Dr. Sarpong coughed up an amount of two hundred thousand Ghana cedis (GHC200,000.00) for the purchase of Brazilian international, Dusolver Hernines, which has still not been refunded by the club.

In view of the fact that Otumfuo Osei Tutu is the owner and life Patron of the club, Dr. Sarpong seems to have indirectly summoned him to the law court for a refund of his monies.

In another development, Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been reported to have earned a net profit of one million seven hundred thousand Ghana cedis after their second leg game against Algerian side MC Eulma at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Sunday.

More than 35,000 tickets were sold for the CAF Champions League game and accrued over 2.8 million Ghana cedis as gross.

After the deductions the club pocketed 1.7 million from the gate proceeds.
