A 14 month-old baby, Kojo Mantey needs GH¢ 5,000 to undergo two urgent surgeries at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) in Accra.
Mantey, who was born without anus at the Somanya Government Hospital in the Eastern Region, is being prepared for anorectal malformation and close the colostomy at an estimated cost of GH¢ 2500 each, making a total of GH¢5000.
This is in addition to the National Health Insurance.
A letter signed by Dr. W. Appeadu-Mensah, Consultant Paedaitric Surgeon and Urologist and Head of Paediatric Surgery Unit KBTH said the patient was referred from the Koforidua General Hospital.
“The above named presented to the Paediatric Surgery Unit with a colostomy after presenting with an anorectal malformation at Koforidua Regional Hospital”.
For now, little Mantey attend to natures call through an artificial hole created on the lower side on his stomach.
The boy’s father, Kweku Essien, a labourer and his mother, a house wife said they were unable to raise any money and appealed to the public and kind spirited Ghanaians to contribute to enable their child undergo surgery.
