An aspiring parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nii Noi Nortey, has donated several bales of second-hand clothes to affected flood victims in his constituency.

He also donated 10 water tanks to help curb the water shortage that hit the community after the disaster.

The Klottey-Korle constituency notably, Osu, Asylum Down and Adabraka, was worst affected during Wednesday’s heavy downpour.

There were subsequent explosion and an inferno that killed over 150 people, who took shelter at a filling station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.

Mr. Nortey disclosed that the donation was his widow’s mite to help alleviated the suffering of the people, since the flood left behind a catastrophe.

According to him, such donations would go a long way to mitigate the suffering of victims, adding that, “I believe any support will give hope.”

Mr. Nortey appealed to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to ensure that drains in the constituency were desilted to reduce the impact of the rains, especially at low level areas.
