Ghana’s kickboxing world champion, Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai on Friday presented sports equipment to the Ghana Kickboxing Association (GKBA) as part of his contribution towards the development of the sport.

The items include six punching bags, thigh pads, gloves and belly belts worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

The donation was made ahead of the Muay Thai International Championship which came off on weekend.

The Switzerland based Nmai said, he was passionate about the development of kickboxing in the country and encouraged others to come on board to help the sport.

“The country has great talents that needed the right equipment to develop and must be supported by our leaders, “he stated.

He urged government to pay attention to the development of sports in the country especially the lesser known sports.

He urged kick boxers to remain disciplined and make good use of the items in order to become world champions in future.

President of the GKBA, Nii Adote Dzata expressed appreciation to Nmai for the donation saying, it would go a long way to churn out more talents for the country.

He called on corporate bodies and individuals to come to their aid as they work towards making kickboxing one of the elite sports in the country.
