Ketu South polling station executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have petitioned the President to order an audit into the accounts of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly.

The executives alleged that GHȻ98,000 was missing from the coffers of the Assembly, the relationship between the polling station executives and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Elliot Edem Agbenorwu is untenable and demand his resignation.

Addressing a press conference in Aflao, a polling station secretary, Macfamous Kudoloh, indicated that the alleged missing money exposes the incompetence of the Municipal Chief Executive, Edem Elliot Agbenorwu in the handling of the assembly’s funds.

“He is not supporting us, if we are in trouble and you call him, he will not pick the phone because he has not managed the resources of the municipal assembly well, that is why we are asking for his resignation,” he insisted.

Mr Agbenorwu has however denied the allegations leveled against him maintaining that the claims were ‘dumbfounding’ saying if there was any malfeasance, I will eventually be summoned by the appointing authority.

“Every year, auditors come to audit the assembly and reports are written and presented to the assembly and management responds to such reports which are sent to the auditors and if they are not okay with it, you are summoned to the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament,” Mr Agbenorwu indicated. –
