Kaneshie market engulfed by filth

Refuse dumped at the Kaneshie Market.Photo.Ebo GormanTraders and commuters at the Kaneshie Market, in Accra, have expressed their displeasure about the dumping of refuse in front of the Post Office road at the market.

As early as 8.30am in the morning yesterday, the road was almost engulfed by a heap of refuse, making it difficult for drivers and commuters to ply the route.

Ms. Okanley, a trader at the market, said for the past few days, refuse had been dumped regularly on the road.

She said often workers of Zoomlion company cleared the refuse.

Ms. Okanley, expressed concern that flies and stench from the refuse could pose health threat to both drivers, traders and customers, who patronise service at the market.

She appealed to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to take the appropriate measures to tackle the situation.
