Juve drop points For first time

Ronaldo - Was on target for Juve

Ronaldo – Was on target for Juve

JUVENTUS’ 100 per cent start to the Serie A season came to an end as they failed to make the most of their first half opportunities, ultimately being pegged back to a 1-1 draw by Genoa.

With the Bianconeri set to face Manchester United in the Champions League this week, Max Allegri rested Douglas Costa and Paulo Dybala, with that decision initially a wise one, with Juve taking the lead after just 19 minutes when Cristiano Ronaldo finished from close range after some poor Genoa defending.

Juventus continued to dominate and could have doubled their advantage on more than one occasion, but they were wasteful, with Ronaldo in particular coming close. They were made to pay for this when Daniel Bessa got in between Mehdi Benatia and Leonardo Bonucci to equalise in the second half, heading home after the Juve defence had fallen asleep.

This prodded the Italian champions into life, but they could not find a winner despite throwing Costa and Dybala on from the bench. Juventus remain clear at the top of the Serie A table, but they have dropped points for the first time. – Eurosport
