JHS student burnt to death

A 15 -year-old Junior High Student (JHS) was burnt to death at Dome in Accra, last Sunday, when fire gutted a wooden kiosk she was sleeping in.

Juliana Awotwi, who was burnt beyond recognition in the kiosk, which served as a home, reportedly visited her father, Mr Emmanuel Awotwi, a private security man.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Effia Tenge, Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the story to the  Ghanaian Times, in Accra yesterday.

She said at about 4:30am on July 30, police rushed to the scene after receiving information about the fire outbreak.
ASP Tenge said personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service at Legon, Accra, arrived at the scene after the residents tried in vain to quench the fire.

She said Juliana’s remains were found in debris, and deposited at the mortuary at the Police Hospital in Accra for autopsy.
