Kwamena Gharmoh, a jealous boyfriend, who threatened to shoot his girlfriend for dancing with another man at an outdooring ceremony, has been sentenced to five years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.
Gharmoh, pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea.
Prosecuting yesterday, Inspector Kwabena Adu told the court presided over by Justice Francis Obiri, a High Hourt judge sitting with additional responsibility, that the complainant, Georgina Abatey, is the girl friend of the convict.
He said on April 5, this year, Gyarmoh and Abatey went for an outdooring ceremony at Omanjor.
At the event, Abatey went dancing with another man, but this did not go down well with her boy friend who pounced on her.
Inspector Adu said some onlookers went to her rescue, but Gharmoh returned, pulled a local pistol and threatened to shoot her.
Convict fired the pistol, but it did not go off.
Complainant was asked to report the matter to the police and Gharmoh was arrested and arraigned before the court.
