Ghana’s Abeiku Jackson came placed a respectable 6th position in his first Olympic contest held yesterday at the ongoing Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The promising Ghanaian youngster finished in a time of 24.30 seconds in the men’s 50m freestyle event that attracted some experienced swimmers across the globe.
Jackson was in the fifth heat which was won by Senegalese swimmer Abdoul Khadre Niane in a time of 23.63 seconds.
Despite failing to advance to the next stage of the competition, Jackson’s time 24.30 seconds becomes his new personal best with his position adjudged the overall finished 55th spot.
It marks an improvement over his previous personal best time which stood at 24.90 seconds.
