The Ghana Shooting Sports Federation (GSSF) has elected new executives to steer the affairs of the federation for the year 2017.
At the federation’s Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, December 17, Mr. Cillian Walsh maintained his position as the President of the Federation.
The Convention People’s Party (CPP) Presidential Candidate for this year’s Presidential elections, Mr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet was elected as Secretary with Mr. Edmond E. Ani coming through as Treasurer.
The Shooting federation established to promote shooting sports in Ghana and also help Ghanaian shooters to compete internationally has already presented teams for various international competitions in the past including the Commonwealth Games, African Championships and World Cups.
Now competing in six shooting disciplines including rifle and shotgun shooters,junior and disabled teams,it will also add Air rifle and Pistol in the next three months bringing up to eight Olympic competitive events for the Tokoyo 2020 Olympics.
The GSSF currently trains at a refurbished outdoor range at the Teshie Military Range and has projected to construct a state of the art shooting range and also acquire many more firearms for its activities.
It will go into 2017 with its plans to participate in about five international competitions in UK, Italy, Spain and the African Championship in Egypt in 2017 and Commonwealth Games in Australia in 2018.
The newly elected executives pledged to work hard to realise the dreams of the Federation in terms of wining laurels for Ghana in the coming years.
